In spring (March to May), the trees blossom and the meadows turn green. The daytime temperature range is 8 to 15 °C (46 - 59 °F). Due to the altitude variation, temperatures might be different depending on the region. Sometimes in April, the winter returns for a short period and sometimes there are summer conditions as early as May.
It is highly recommended to pack a sweater, good walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a compact umbrella, and/or a light raincoat.
The voltage in Switzerland, as in most of Europe, is 230V/50 Hz.
Switzerland uses Type C (2-pin) and Type J (3-pin) plugs, (Type C 2-pin plugs also fit J sockets).
Most power sockets are designed for three-pin round plugs. The standard continental type plug with two round pins, applied to many electrical travel products, may be used without problems.
Switzerland has its own currency: the Swiss franc, usually indicated with CHF. The Euro is sometimes accepted, especially in cities and in places close to the borders. However, the change is usually given in Swiss francs.
In Switzerland, currency exchange is available at banks, railway stations, hotels, and airports. Currency exchange counters at main railway stations, beside the ticket counters, are usually open seven days a week (including public holidays) for long hours – exchange rates are identical to the bank exchange rates, a commission of CHF 4 is charged, and these are the best places to exchange foreign cash and travellers cheques.
Exchange rate: 1 USD = 0.93 CHF
Credit and charge cards such as Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are widely accepted.

We recommend travel insurance for all our trips because not only is this a non-refundable trip but also sometimes, unexpected things occur. Trip delays, interruptions, or even cancellations can cause headaches and expenses, but travel insurance can help make sure you are protected for adjustments you need to make to overcome these situations. Some plans contain cancellation benefits and if you have a covered reason you can be reimbursed for pre-paid non-refundable expenses, like a medical emergency or loss of employment before your trip even begins. Therefore, you will be offered to purchase travel insurance after booking and can either select to purchase or reject it in writing.
